My local mechanic says I am missing what he calls, a shock isolator, for my Hall Aldan shocks setup. Said it is a rubber piece that goes in between the spring, and the top hat of the shock itself. I bought these used, but the previous owner says he never had such a thing. I called Aldan, and they don't have it. Shop says Hall does, but wants $200. Any thoughts or experiences?

Hall did not supply them with the Aldan shocks they sold as it was assumed you would remove the ones from your OEM shocks and mount them on the Aldans. If you still have your OEM shocks then you also have the isolators Wink

If not then someone that has a set of the non-adjustable Tecalmit (or whatever they are called) OEM shocks that are pretty much worthless. I'm sure some of the other vendors would have old shocks and hence rubber isolators lying around.

Sorry I had to laugh, mine when i got the car the tops unscrewed and all the oil leaked out.
So I know where you are coming from !
The local shock absorber rebuilder here , when he rebuilds them he pulls all the guts out and puts a quality car shock in there. it all looks the same but has no rate adjustment. He did say the Aldin ones were more ornamental, than a functionaing shocker !

What other brand would you go with? Aldans shocks are not all that cheap! Well maybe cheaply made? Leaks two and three times, I'd move on also!

I did, but heard most people call them spacers, then now I hear the term isolator. I'm now realizing these are the same things. I'm thinking maybe just forgetting the whole thing.

They are not really the same thing, yes the OEM shocks have an aluminum 'spacer' to increase ride height to meet DOT requirements. The isolator is the rubber boot part that the spring seats on to stop it rattling around, there is a ring for the bottom and a larger boot that covers the piston arm for the top.
