"The Sean Hyland 600 HP Crate Engine utilizes our 6 liter aluminum block, billet steel main caps, forged steel crankshaft, forged H beam rods, forged pistons. The Ford GT 4 valve cylinder heads use SHM camshafts to operate the valves. A 4bbl Demon carb sits on an aluminum intake, and the ignition is provided with a crank trigger system. The engine comes complete with air filter, water pump, and one wire alternator. Perfect for street rods and project cars."

Its all your fault Doug!

My point is this....why go the FE route? What's to be gained, what's the rational? Do you like busting your knuckles trying to replace that little coolant hose between the water pump & the intake manifold? Do you like pulling the rockers & pushrods just to swap an intake?

I'm just playing devil's avocate here. Go any route you want, I'll support you Daniel! I'm a Cleveland die-hard, its a damn bitchen motor. When the Todd Buttermore block is in my hands, I'll have a 427 cubic inch all aluminum Cleveland.

However, 540 bhp at $6K for a 351C crate motor is the most bang for the buck. Either of the 2 more expensive crate motors are simple drop-ins, compared to the FE or 385 series swaps. The 6 liter 4 cam mod motor gets my vote, for somebody who just has to have something other than a Cleveland. Go new school, not old school.

enjoy your weekends
Your point is well taken GP.

I'm sure that the 427FE's, in fact I know, were done when it was still reasonably priced.
With the historical value of original parts pushing blocks over $5000 it makes no sense whatsoever to put one in a Pantera.

All I am saying is that it can and has been done. I am truely wondering why no one is breaking the ZF with the new monster small blocks.

I would think that no one is pushing them hard but I don't want to get beatup for saying that.
I for one would push them hard.

Also twisted sheetmetal on any nice car is ugly. On a Pantera, it's priceless.
Hey guy's,
Great info. Yah, your all correct, I think cleveland is the way to go. But George, I was getting $ quotes from MME for about 10k for a 550hp +/- 377 stroker, not 6k.
This is why I inquired about an FE. I have an extra 427 side oiler, lemans crank, rods, etc. Its rebuilt, dynoed @542hp and has all the goodies in it. however, I'll shelve the thought and stick with the cleveland.
Thanks for the input
Daniel

George, I just clicked on your link, That combo never came up with MME, apparently we skipped right past it straight into using one of my 4bolt blocks and MME doing the rest including CHI heads etc. Carb to oil pan. It's a great value, but still 10K.

Doug, your right, I'm the newbie.
