15 OHM 10 WATT RESISTOR STAMPED G.B.C.?

from reading, I would say it should be accross the "charge" warning lamp.

Its purpose is that during cranking, the current to flash the alternator is through that warning lamp. IF the bulb should burn out, the resistor would still allow flashing so the alternator will start charging once engine cranks.

you need to know if your charging circuit has been modified as to whether it is still needed. the warning lamp may be rewired for newer regulators

Thank you JFB. My car is bone stock and unmodified so it still has the OEM type Motorcraft Regulator. Therefore, I would say it's still required. I note that Wilkinson sells these for $10 bucks.

Precisely WHAT do I solder each end of the new resistor to?

I don't know that and I can't recall seeing an online photo of its installation.
If no one else provides, I'll try to open the barn, see if I can locate mine and take photo (possible be tomorrow though)

It solders directly to the alternator light housing.

Make sure to locate your soldering as close to the housing as possible, to allow the spade contacts to properly seat.

And if you look REAL close, the parts catalog, same as what wilkinson uses for his website, shows the proper placement, also.

While I think each owner should have a paper copy of the parts catalog, which may just indicate I am still old-school, I've bookmarked Wilkinson's website and consult it often for the ease it offers over thumbing through paper pages.
