advice on wheels for '72-going to 315/35/17 (10.5"-12.5") rears, 245/40/17 (8"-9.5") fronts--tires are easy to find- wheels are pricey--any advice/experience on wheels- tires too
Go with 335/35/17 tires in the rear, they will fit with the right offset wheels. As for wheels, spend the little extra and get the wheels you like...you won't regret it, unless it interferes with the wife buying shoes or something. Or if that is the case, ask around and get some nice used ones from other Pantera owners which will have the correct offset. Some are selling 17" now and going to 18", so you may find some nice ones out there.
If you want to go with new wheels. CCW in florida sells lightweight 3 piece forged aluminum wheels in 17" and 18" in whatever offset you need. Price: $1800.
You could also go with something like the Cobra R replicas in either chrome or polished aluminum. Look in ebay under "cobra r". I bought the polished and wish I had gotten the chrome but you can get a set of 4 american made for less than a grand. You don't have to get involved in bidding, if you don't want, you can contact the dealers through their links. 245/45-17's fit on 17x9 inch rims without rubbing anything except a minor rub in the wheelwell at full lock turn. I have 285/45-17's on the rear 17x9's. The plan down the road is to get 17x 10.5 so I can fill up the wheel wells a little more, and I am going to get chrome.
please email me a photo--mrock@lakewood.org-- i have ordered the wheels-17x9 fronts and 18x12 rears

Apparently the 10" wheels work for the rear and the 8" for the front. Greg Jacobs runs these on his car and they look fine. A great option for some cheap wheels that you can put slicks on.
