Sounds like you have a hot wire laying on the body somewhere. Take a good look at the wires that you have disconnected and make sure they are not touching anything.

been there done that...wires were plug-in type and not touching a thing and disconnected??? any other suggestions?? before I try to reinstall the wiper motor FYI the plastic harness from the car that plugs into the wiper motor is a little melted. but again it is disconnected. Help!!!

Melted wires attached to the car or did they come out with the motor? If still in car, wires may be touching each other.

Odds are that the problem stems from SOMETHING you did. I'd first look at the door grommets where the power wire comes through the door and jamb. What concerns me is, no fuse apparently blew, and that power wire is fused! As you probably know, the Pantera is THE most messed-with sports car on the planet, and some former owner or bootleg-mechanic could have jury-rigged anything up to a nuclear generator in there over the last 32 years. I suggest getting out your VOM (volt-ohmmeter) and starting from the window motor power wire, trace out the line back through the switches to the fuses. As stock, it should only be a few feet of wire, but as I said, by now anything's possible.

I did seperate wires from melted plastic and taped them off. That was the problem on the battery. Tested motor and it seems to work good. now I will have to sort out the issue why the wires melted I am thinking maybe the wiper linkage is stuck causing the wires to burn or is there a internal switch that maybe bad in the wiper motor perhaps to allow the wipers to go into place once you turn off?
