If the recession was over last summer as the White House claims, then what is this called that we are in right now? I would hate to know what "bad" times would be like.......

Do you have any auction results to report?

No but I'm real interested in how much some of the cars sold for. Most of the ones in the photos had "SOLD" signs on them. With a no reserve policy, I'd be that many went really cheap! I'll have to search to see if BJ posts the sales prices.
Thanks,

Mark
Were there any Pantera sightings? The Orange County BJ auction lowered the entire Pantera market values. Thank you for the great photo coverage. I saw that Smokey Bandit Pontiac Trans Am on TV that had the late model Chevy engine, etc. from Year One and thought that was really a fun car for the money if you like cars with screamin' chickens on the hood.

I think it varies a bit depending on the part of the country you live in. Things are looking pretty great with the people I know in Atlanta. I had two friends that that were out of work and they both found work last fall when things were turning around.

I’ve spent more money in 2009 and 2010 doing stuff to my Pantera than I have in many years so I’m giving some support to our vendors.

I also have a number of friends that are spending big bucks doing stuff to their cars. One is having a Hemi Cuda Clone built and one showed up at Donut Derelicts last Saturday with a $6,000 Pro charger on his Mustang GT. Two guys bought 2011 Mustang GTs, one 2010 Shelby Mustang, etc.

Edit: I forgot Steve, that recently bought the black 170,000+ Maserati. How could I forget that! I haven’t seen my friend’s spending money like they are now since the mid to late 90s. It may not mean anything, but they are sure not acting like they are afraid of the future.

Thats great, I'm glad things seem to be turning around for you in your part of the Country! Here in the Central Vally in Calif. unemployment rate is about 15% Jobs are few and far between! Not sure what Country Pres. B.O. and Congress are living in?

All,
I consider Mike Dailey a good friend and a true treasure to our Pantera community.

However………………………….. Mike is our local version of “Left Coast Liberal” Larry Finch. I will correct Mike’s rose colored glasses view of the Atlanta recession. This month the metro Atlanta unemployment rate hit 10.4%. That is up not a down figure. Mike and his friends at DD are not your typical Atlantan. The economy here is not good as foreclosures and bankruptcies are above the national average.
Hopefully this will begin to change in November.

Jeff
Friend of Mike’s not his politics!
There you go again Jeff! I assume that was all tongue- in-cheek stuff and a joke, but just in case it wasn’t, I was NOT discussing politics, unlike some of my friends I seldom if ever do (especially here), I DO NOT belong to any political party or have a left or right view and I’m only describing what my friends are experiencing. My friends are doing quite well, thank you! As far as I know that includes you too!

As for Larry, I have not seen him on the forum in many weeks. That’s too bad because he has a lot of knowledge about Panteras.

Some folks just don't like the taste of strong medicine. Keep drinking the Kool Aid and listen to those that tell you what you want to hear.

What we don't learn from the past we are doomed to repeat. And it looks like we're going to do it again.

BTW, things are doing much better up my way. Working steady since February and I passed on two other serious job offers since then. The bills are paid and the car's running fine.
