Brake Fluid in Power Steering

My brother just put brake fluid in the power steering reservoir of his non-deTomaso vehicle (Honda Accord). I'm actually surprised he figured out how to get the hood open.

Does anyone know what affect this will have on the system? He was going to get a turkey baster and suck the fluid out. Should the lines be disconnected and drained?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Cyboman,
I think that Honda has a special power steering fluid that you are suppose to use. I would drain the pump, clean the lines the best you can, add the proper fluid and then find the leak. You really shouldn't have to put power sterring fluid in that system unless it has a leak.

Use the turkey baster. Suck it up and refill with power steering fluid. in a few days repeat. The small amount of brake fluid left in should be inconsequential when mixed with proper fluid.

Thanks for the replies Dougo & RRS.

I disconnected the reservoir line and let it all drain out. Then I let him turkey baste what was left to teach him to be more diligent under the hood of a car! Our fingers are crossed on this one.
