I just unboxed my new BT also, it's nothing short of a work of art!

at first I couldn't figure out what the one long bolt is for but then I remembered what George said about the Shelby snafu. the casting boss for the 3/8" bolt near the #3 port is raised up above to avoid getting tight down in the pinch, very nice touch / work-around of the Shelby problem

I wonder was the original Boss 351 intake affected in that spot? are the Shelby & BT internally larger than the Boss 351 intake?

The bolt was never a problem at all really on the original Shelby script manifold. All you needed to do was use a socket head bolt and a Allen key wrench.

I suppose there were those that didn't know what that is and where to get one? For those people it was a problem.

The absence of the Shelby script and the raised pedestal on the BT are the most obvious outward differences between the two manifolds.

I do not know if Francis has the molds for the original manifold or not.

Originally there Shelby name was copy righted and he feared infringement issues with applying it.

A mechanism has been set up by Shelby Licensing since then that sells that permission reasonably now.

Shelby script on a Pantera is not really a sought after detail so why change it now. The "Cleveland" market is so small.

He does make some 'COBRA' script manifolds so I don't think that is an issue any longer?

You would have to 'cc' the current manifold vs. an orignal to get an idea if anything was done to the original design.

I never had the two together at any one time so the thought never occurred to me.

IF there is a problem with that manifold, and I am not saying that there is, it is that it has too much volume for a 5.7 L engine.

It resembles the 429 version so closely that I think it would tend to work better on a "stroker".

Yes, aesthetically it is a work of art. Of course the Hemi and Chevy guys would not agree.

Personally I think that is just a case of them being numb-nuts but I'm prejudiced obviously.

ANYONE can obviously see that "make me puke" orange is the way of the enlightened?

I'm not sure if anyone who works at BT right now would have an answer for you on any of these questions?

This is a 1969-70 product and is caught right at the end of the Ford "Total Performance" program and that is part of what hung Detomaso's racing program out to dry in reality.

The "Duce's" money carried a lot of people a long way on his coattails but when it was over they were marooned.
Hey P Doug, Your buddy has one he is trying to get rid of. That is great, I hope he sells it. I am just passing on information to the guys that have been looking for one of these hard to find intakes. Lower price by 100$ is better, no shit, when your pal sells his, 100$ ain't that much if someone really wants one now.
Hall has already sold manifolds. If somebody wants one, get your order in quick.

The flat carburetor mount Pantera version is harder to find, and a specific interest to Pantera and Cobra owners. Tara has made a good move in stocking that manifold. She's got my vote of approval ... and heartfelt thanks. Pantera and Cobra owners are folks who generally don't have to count pennies. Availability is more important. BT manifolds sell out quickly. I'm contacted constantly by folks asking where to acquire one. Now I have a place to send them.

I see no reason for controversy here.

Doug I'll bet you a couple of drinks (mine is scotch on the rocks) that Tara sells them in less than a year.
