Carbon fiber comes in many colors. Most manufacturers use the basic black. I have made several carbon fiber pieces over the years and it's a great meterial. Stong, lite and will not rust. The 2 most common ways of manufacturering carbon fiber is by wet layout and vacuum forming.

The carbon fiber itself is just the top layer which is usually backed by layers of fiberglass for strength. However triming it can be a problem so make sure of the fit before you buy. When you grind down or cut the edges, you can damage the fibers very easily and this can ruin the look. If you damage it, your pretty much done with the piece unless you paint over it.

Keep in mind that our cars are hand made, so what fits one car perfectly may not fit the next as well. It also depends on who made the mold, from what car and how old the molds are getting that the pieces are being made from. All these things have an effect on the over quality of the piece being made.

I just put on a fiberglass hood and it was much easier to trim, fit and will be easy to repair if needed. Be sure to check the bow of the front hood. I found with my car, being a late model, it was not the same as the stock earlier cars and it sat to high in the front. I ended up not being able to use the hinges and had to pin it to get the right height as well as grind off about 1/4" from each side. I got mine from PI Motorsports and am happy with it. I know they also sell the carbon fiber ones as well and they look very well made.

Be sure to test fit it if possble before you buy it.
