Ive got an mad blaster and 6AL. How many volts should be at the coil? Should it vary?

Depending on your ignition configuration and whether you are running a ballast resittor, it COULD vary.

If you have the typical "old school" ignition wiring with a ballast, you should get full battery voltage with the key in "START" (~12 V) and reduced voltage (~9 V) with the engine in the RUN position.
