Ben has created a new very slick website and has a section for the de Tomaso Worldwide Registry. I expect that it will be up and running again soon. The nice thing about Ben’s registry is that it has free access and therefore search engines (or anyone else) can index it making it really helpful to the de Tomaso community. Can’t thank Ben enough for all the work he has done for us.

The new site has the same URL http://www.qv500.com/

First I appreciate anyone’s time and effort to develop a registry for our cars. They have also invested their own money for these sites. Like Mike’s Pantera Place it is a labor of love and certainly not an investment to someday sell for a profit.

For some reason some individuals just refuse to accept Chuck Melton’s method of accessing his site. Is it a bit frustrating to have to register a car for full access? Yes. Does Chuck’s site still have some glitches in page re direction etc.? Yes.

But it is still a far superior site to Ben’s (no disrespect just a fact). The amount of content dwarfs his registry. Chuck continues by himself to daily add more and more content. It has a fantastic search feature by numerous variations. I found the search by wheels and tires most helpful when I was researching the purchase of Campy 15X10s.

He also seems to have the most listings of Panteras for sale of any resource. Because Chuck continues to update new sales often you can go back and find previous owners of a specific car. A great resource for those people in the market for a Pantera.

Last, and I guess part of the reason for my registry bias is through Prova Mo and Chuck's personal help I was able to locate my first Pantera. I had been looking for it for over 30 years !

For now there really is no debate. Ben’s site is down and hopefully comes back. But if you cannot get past some of the challenges to using Prova Mo, the loss is yours.

May I say I agree with the compliments addressed to both Chuck and Ben. Both websites are complementary, and provide various information.
Ben intends to put his DT website back ASAP, and is a true admirer of the brand. I must agree that Chuck's website is not the easiest in terms of accessibility and re-directing links, but it is a mass of precious, detailed info with tons of pics, for FREE ! Both websites are honest and impartial as well, they say the truth, without equivoque, whether it is good or bad.
And, after all, at the end of the day, they both design and increase their websites on a voluntary basis, with free access, on their free time... What more do you want ? In French we have a line that says " Criticizing is easy, but building art is difficult". So, without any restriction, I say " Thanks, Ben and Chuck, for your great and precious website ".
