I am a bit new to the details of the DeTomaso Pantera and have a few questions before I make an investment in one. After daunting research, I feel as though I have learned very little; concrete information on the Pantera is hard to come by. I would like to purchase a pre-L Pantera in the US to restore to concours original condition. Ideally I would like to see the car painted a gloss black with the Pantera graphic painted in gold, Ford/Hertz colors. Was this color combination ever made avaiable? Also, I heard something about a Pantera LX? From what I read, the car was a post-L with a gold graphic and gold wheels. Whas the gold ever made avaliable on pre-L standard trim Panteras?

Thanks, I will check that site out. Oh, yes I am sure I want to restore the car to stock condition. I find little joy or excitement in altering a vehicle's heratige. While I understand many people's philosophies to "personalize" their vehicles, I find that my money is much better spent in simply purchasing a vehicle I enjoy in its original condition.

Another question relative to color though. The side graphic on pre-L cars, was it ever available in gold for any market, either domestic or foreign?

No. US spec pre Ls never had any graphics on the side. Only the European pre L GTS models might have had graphics on the side and then only in White over the black lower body section. Euro pre L GTS models are very rare.
Maybe I will just paint it that way anyway. How poorly could it affect the value of the vehicle if it is perfectly restored to factory condition, with the exception of gold graphics rather than white or none.

Were gold graphics ever made available on non Pre-L panteras in the US?
