What size is Speedometer and the tach. I wish to install a new 5" tach and speedometer. How do I get the old ones out? The dash is a 71 pre-l. Also is the speedo cable screwed in or just held on by a clip?

Dunno what diameter they are, but you can measure them after removing. They are NOT 5" dia, though. There is a complex cage in back of the speedo/tach held on by two thumbscrews. Remove the thumbscrews in back and the instrument comes out the hole leaving the cage in place. Then you can unplug wires & bulbs. The speedo cable screws on.
