As the owner of a 1972 DeTomaso Pantera, I am ALL for my car's monetary appreciation, ALTHOUGH, I would question a "$80,000.00" valuation, as I believe comparables would be DIFFICULT to obtain in an Apples to Apples comparison...Markquote:Originally posted by desert_detomaso:
I just upped to $80K with my insurer. All they wanted was a current visual by my local agent.

A fellow PCNC member upped his coverage to $100K 2 years ago because he had a small accident that cost $50K to repair - the entire insured value of his car previously. Frankly, the insurance company wanted to total the car, but spending the $50K to repair it properly would net him a far superior car than he could have purchased at that time for $50K. Insurance companies typically want to 'total' a vehicle when repair estimates approach 70-80% of the vehicle's value, so he just made sure there was sufficient margin to properly fix his car should anything happen in the future.
