I was told at a car show that Mario owned 2 Panteras. I don't recall having heard that before. Anybody know anything aout that?

A lot of early 70's British magazines testing and introductions were done in this 71(?)
(Early bumpers,rect. door handle,etc)
Note the "Mario" plate,and this was also painted onto the hood.
I don't really think it was Andretti's, but a lot of others might have.
I actually hope Mario Andretti did own two Panteras-making ours that much more vaulable !

the one GT4 turned Group 4 factory race car imported to the US by Ford in 1972, chassis 2344, was delivered to Mr. Andretti. The car wound up in the hands of Warren Tope who raced it in the US during 1973.

While browsing through the Bill Van Ess Pantera Registry last night I noticed that Ozzie Nelson had purchased a Pantera for son Ricky. From the serial @ 5*** it appeared to be a '73. Interesting how many celebritys actually owned Panteras at one time or another.
Didn't Ricky Nelson's son (Gunner?) own a Pantera at one time? Maybe he inherited it from his father?
BTW Bill Stroppe, Jr. had Mario Andretti's GT4 in his shop in Long Beach, CA for some time.(P.I. Magazine # 106 Spring 2001, page 60 and 61, pic is on p. 61) Interviewed by Mr. Wyss. Sorry I can't scan and post.
