To re-state this again, a bit more emphatically- a std oil pump (Melling or other) is just fine for all but road racing applications and most of them will use a dry sump system. IMHO, BOTH high pressure and high volume pumps are useless in 351-Cs. They can cause more problems than they are designed to solve. What almost all deTomasos need is not a big pump but a cheap mechanical oil pressure gauge either temporarily or permanently mounted on the gauge-sender boss (with a 1/4" pipe-tee fitting) at the rear of the block. This much more asccurate gauge will show you that the 35psi you read on the stock gauge is closer to 70psi in reality, with a completely stock oil pump. My $14 mechanical gauge from Kragens has been in place on the block since 1989 with zero problems. A check of ten (10) diffeerent stock oil pressure gauge senders gave me 8 different readiongs on my '72,. all lower than the mechanical gauge reading. IMHO, the stock gauge tells you the pump is turning- nothing else.
