If you're buying Autozone, Advance, Discount Parts or any other cheap vendor rebuilt alternator, get use to replacing them. I learned the hard way too. I once replaced mine and it lasted 30 days. The discount parts store swapped it and the second lasted for 24 hours. I decided to contact a professional rebuilder and he inspected the unit and advised I could keep this up forever with the cheaply-made parts it was rebuit with. He completely replaced all the components with heavy-duty components for less than $75 with a gurantee. The "65" amp standard alternator now handles 80+ amps and has been in the car for over a year. One thing he did notice was my wiring had it putting out 100% all the time. He instructed me on total rewiring and it's great now. I will be glad to give you his contact information if you don't have someone good in your area.
