ABSOLUTELY! I can easily fit the clubs, a gym bag, and my laptop. The guys at the course driving Porsches and the occasional Ferrari (they always park next to the Pantera) are always floored when I open the back and "toss" the clubs in. They can't believe how much room we have back there. Meanwhile, they're gingerly sliding their clubs into the passenger seat. I have managed to fit 2 sets of clubs back there too, but it took some work. I think I needed to remove a driver or two and lay them across the top at the back (front?) of the tub closer to the back of the car. But no room for any luggage after that.
I think that fitting two complete sets of clubs is entirely possible, but I will have to downsize my bag in order to do so.
My driver and woods have to lay across the back of the tub, but they still fit in nicely.
Did they ever make a tub that DIDN'T have the round spare tire slot? I seem to recall this was an option on later models. The spare slot (which is where my shoes are sitting above) unfortunately takes up too much room ...

The tub is made of fiberglass and could easily be modified. I'm sure that any competent body shop could cut that part out and 'glass' in a straight section. Then you would just have to refelt the affected panels, or redo the whole tub if you like. I doubt if it would even cost that much to do.
