The car is Australian, commissioned by Paul Halstead who owned a DeTomaso franchise, built by Barry Lock circa 1983 - 1985. Tube frame, fiberglass body, Hewland transaxle, 2160 pounds (the minimum allowed by the class rules in 1985). The car's first driver was Kevin Bartlett.
The car was the duck's guts back in its day.

Thanks, George. I know about Halstead, but I had no idea he had built a race car. Very interesting. I got excited when I saw the photos because the rear license plate opening is the wider style indicative of a 9000 series Embo car. If it did start life as a late model Pantera, I would love to add it to the registry. Do you have any idea who owns it now?
