I must be sick! I sold my nice white Pantera with just about every Hall Pantera upgrade available about two months ago. Around the same time I bought a fixer upper Pantera. You know the daily driver type mostly stock half taken apart for paint hasn't been on the road since 1984.
Well, it has been sitting on the trailer at work for the last two months. This weekend I brought her home. changed the oil installed a battery and put 5 gallons of fuel in her. She started right up. So then I bled the brakes and drove her around the block. The funny thing is the car has no bumpers, door panels, and no side or rear windows installed. I did put on some used 17" rims & tires I bought at the Pantera swap meet. The car has a really bad paint job, Even worse than Earl Schieb could of done that makes this car really ugly up close especially since it is taken apart and has lots of overspray.
The thing that surprises me the most is I didn't think I would get to excited about this car. But I must admit, Its feels great to have a Pantera in the garage again and I think I get just as excited to see the ugly duckling Pantera as I use to when seeing the nice white Pantera when the garage door opens.
I think I'm going to put her back together and take to the PI Holiday party with ugly paint and all. Then I will be starting with the mechanical and suspension upgrades before I finish her off with new paint sometime in the future.
So just a little warning don't be to harsh on the ugly duckling Pantera if you see it! It will have its day sometime in the future and we will be having a little fun in the meantime.
