Pins in rear carrier

Those dowel pins keep the thrust washers on each end from rotating with the pivot shaft as the suspension responds to bumps. If you can measure the intact one, it'd probably be worthwhile to tap a replacement pin in the existing hole (assuming it didn't get broken off in there!) The lower pivot bushings sit in a recess at each end, that is flush with the bushing ID, thus its a real mess to remove & replace these bronze bushes. They usually can't be knocked out as theres no ledge to catch hold of. The best way I've fond is plain hard work using a cape-chisel & hammer. Cape chisels are used to peel a section up instead of splitting it as with other types of cold chisels. That releases the pressure and the split bushing then comes out. Whatever you use, be very careful not to gouge up the machined recess in the cast-iron carrier, or re-fitting a new bushing will be much more difficult. And do NOT use oilite- it is powdered metal & cannot take impact loads. It will go away 10X faster than the stock bushings.

Also I tried to push out the old bushings for the support shaft in the carrier with a one inch washer with flats ground on them for instalation, but the washer went conical. I was thinking of haveing hardened washers made. Any other ideas?

Hummm, that's pretty much how mine came out except I put about eight or ten washers in to keep them from pushing through. All four bushings came out easily.
