I would like to replace my original Blaupunkt radio with one that will play CDs and MP3s - a plugin for an IPod would also be great but not a necessity.

My concern is with a radio that will allow CDs to play "sideways" owing to the stock vertical installation of the radio.

I would like to here any suggestions for radios that would work.

Thanks

I have a Kenwood system, plays single CD's direct in the unit or link to a 6-CD changer. I don't remember the model #, but it is the one Larry Stock (PPC, Reno) sells and it is a reversible face, that has a chrome vinyl copy of the Pantera logo on the back, so when turned off looks like a 'radio delete' plate.

If you use a remote CD changer your options increase significantly of course.
If your CD collection is not growing and you are trying to play the CD's you currently have then you might want to look for a unit that has a USB connection for an IPod. A 4gig memory stick will hold a lot of CD's ( 40 to 50) and will play thru the USB connection. Burn the Cd's to the memory stick. That's how I solved the CD' problem.

Good ideas. As a side note, if you think 'vertical' radios are as cool as I do, you can shop for a modern-internals-with-vintage-look Corvette unit that contains the USB connection. Many Corvette specialists stock these.

In a rare response admitting fault, I was mildly chastised by King George that a 'vertical' version of this radio may only exist in my mind, as it did when I was reading my JCWhitney catalog at midnight, both of which should explain some errors in judgment.

Anyway, they DO make 'vintage' Corvette radios with all the modern internals and USB ports, but seemingly NOT in the coveted "vertical" arrangement. If I find it though, I will parade it in front of this board proudly in a smug "I told you so" fashion.

Horizontally,
