Glass is glass (well, more or less). I would ask around locally to see who does good chip repairs near you. I have not had any done myself, but I hear that chip repairs are pretty good these days. I'm sure that with all the mountain roads in Alberta, the skill level is pretty high there.
Got 'er fixed this morning. You're right: these guys know what they're doing. They didn't completely get it repaired, but what was once a dime-sized chip is only 1/5 that size now - and the chance of it spreading are (hopefully) slim.
There is a movement afoot in San Diego whereby a local glass vendor is looking to create a mold for Pantera windshields, which he plans to sell at much less than the $800 to $1400 they are currently going for ... fingers crossed!
