Red Loctite and lock wire is the way to go, don't use the old bolts because of the serrated heads or bolts with washers under the head. I am a big fan of Loctite products but if the parts are not clean the thread locker will not work,to do the job right you need to remove the diff and remove the ring gear to clean out all the oil.
