See all the photos at SEMA 2009 - a set on Flickr

Didn't shoot as many photos as usual. There didn't seem to be much in the way of new, cool stuff. As always, there were great cars. Someone told me there was a Pantera at the show, but I never saw it. Here is some of the things I thought were interesting:

As a first-timer at SEMA, it was amazingly large although I've been told it was significantly smaller this year. I recognized that Bentley Continental GT with the $100K body kit although I am not a fan of the flat black color.
The Pagani Zonda was an amazing machine to see in person.
Was GM giving out free 2010 Camaros to the customizers? There sure was a lot of them around.

There were a lot of cheap space available just before the show, but there was still a lot of empty space.

Too many Camaros. They displaced the many Mustangs and Challengers that overpopulated booths for the past couple of years.

It was one of the few things I was interested in this year.

FYI -

The builder of the SEMA truck, Pissed off Pete, is Randy Grubb. He is the builder of the Leno tank car, the Blastolene Indy car, the B702 car and has had his hand in other builds - one on the Jesse James show years back.

I met him when he displayed the Blastolene Indy car at the Fresno Autorama. I was wearing a Pantera shirt and he started a conversation that lasted over an hour. He had just bought a Pantera three weeks earlier, and about a month later attended the 2006 Fun Rally. He took his car out to the track and was bitten bad by the track-bug. He has since sold the Pantera for a CAV GT40, better suited for track events. He was at the Reno Fun Rally just this year, and will probably be there in 2010.

Very down-to-earth man, insanely talented and I just wonder what he will come up with next.

Larry
