I'm in the process of reinstalling my zf in my 71 pantera after having it rebuilt. It's a type 2. When I removed the clutch slave cylinder, I left the lines attached and supported it up out of the way. Upon reinstalling it, I found the boot to be torn and now the adjusting rod seems to be extending 1/2 to 3/4 inch longer than the original position. I have read through all the manuals and bulletins and Mike Dailey's article on clutch free play adjustment but nothing I find addresses this problem. I assume the piston has extended beyond it's normal position. What is the cure. Also, I'm concerned with proper clutch adjustment and considering a long throw replacment cylinder and would appreciate any feedback on the types available and anyone's thoughts on them.
Thanks Warren
