I am looking for suggestions for a stereo am-fm cd player. The guys at the stereo store can't say if their units will play the cd if it is mounted vertically. They have computer listings for all types of vehicles but guess what? No panteras listed. I know that certain year vettes had vertically mounted radios (but I don't know which) so I could cross reference. Also does a "DIN" size radio fit? I realize that I will have to do some cutting for the faceplate.
thanks

mid-year corvettes (1963/1967) & maybe later models had vertically mounted radios. my 1990 does not, but don't know when they were changed. if your going to use a cd changer, probably trunk mounted, it dosen't matter. i used one of hall's flip face kenwoods serial # 7007rv with a 10 disc changer in my 74 pantera and it works fine. even without the changer the vertical mount plays single cds very well.
I looked in Vett of old books and made many calls ti various dealers and was unable to find a stereo of good quality to just drop in. I ended up putting in a normal stereo with the cd changer and amp in the front compartment. The power and all the wiring was simple to put in.
