Temp Sending Unit Question

Thanks! Unfortunately, it’s bigger than 8-32 but smaller than 10-32. Metric?

Shouldn't be metric since its typically moved to the engine.

I looked at this a couple of years ago as I, too, wanted a bolted connection.  I was not able to match it to SAE or metric.  Perhaps it was just intended to "grip" the female bullet connector ???  This was on an original sender.

Because you were unable to determine a thread size and pitch, I am curious if you were able to confirm the temperature sender did in fact have a spiral thread as opposed to concentric rings?

I was thinking of that same question as I was typing my previous post.  I seem to recall that it is a spiral thread, but my memory is a little fuzzy on that part.  Unfortunately, the sender is installed in the engine block and it is not readily accessible at this time.

I wanted to do the same as you, I try US (UNC and UNF) and metric thread and I couldn't find the right thread, anyway you can'ttorque a nut because the stud will turn. So, I fit a OEM bullet type connector.

I understand the concern of rotating the stud. However, if you first install one nut down to the sender body and then carefully tighten it, you can safely use a second nut to secure the ring terminal.

I also thought of this solution, but, there remains the problem of the thread because it is not Unc, Unf or metric one maybe another thread:  Whitworth or ??

given it is not structural, consider running 8-32 die nut over it

I have several of these with nuts threaded on them - I will check the thread for you next chance I get.

I checked two of these, and both were #8-32 thread.  Unsure of the manufacturer, but probably Ford OEM or NAPA - Standard Motor Products / Blue Streak.
