timing

What is the timing on a relatively stock engine 351 cleveland? I have a complete new cooling system including dual sucker fans. Please help. I am ideling at approx 200 degrees but then it shoots up to 230. alex

About 10-12 degrees initial and no more than 38 degrees TOTAL (vac if you have it, centrifugal and initial all combined).

I've heard that less advance than 38 degrees results in more power and longer life of the pistons & valves...
