Im not too sure if I should put gas struts on my car!
I rang a guy who makes custom gas struts and he told me to take a few measurements,
such as overall length of strut when opened.
I guessed about 48cm,he also asked me how much the deck lid weighted.
So I thought I better get high tech on this one, so I got the bathroom scales out and weight it.
With the lid nearly closed I got a weight of about 33kg, does that sound about right!
"I have wing on lid"
I hope the new struts don't do any damage to the lid.

Any advice! Big Grin

Yes, be careful, make sure they are of the right pressure. If they are too strong, they will push up on the lid where it meets the roof line. Then when you open the lid, the lid will catch on the roof line and dent the hell of of your lid where they meet.
Been there and done that.

Hey Downunder!

I created a new design for my pantera using the proper shocks for the decklid with the delta wing.

This is what it looked like stock.. with my broom stick heh..

And after some calculations.. some designs.. and prototype.. I came up with a new design where the shocks will sit perfectly when closed, apply the force horizontally when closed just like the honda and acura vehicles.

You can lower it to this height before it stops supporting the weight of the decklid and wing.

And here's the rest of the picture of the design and setup.

I don't know why factory put the shocks all the way next to the engine where it has such a bad leverage over such a heavy item... Anyways.. I have been offering this setup to pantera owners that don't have the luggage tub in the rear and don't mind drilling a copule holes into their pantera. If your intrested e-mail me at littodevil@gmail.com and I could ship worldwide seeing that your not in the USA Smiler I would supply the proper shocks, brackets, ball joints, screws and visual instructions Smiler

Hope you like my new design for the pantera! Big Grin

Best Regards,
Larry
Michael, Thanks! Heh my goal has always been to update the pantera with modern technology, or incorporate it in the most practical way. I got so many more ideas in my head just have to find them to make them happen Smiler

George, I don't mind the praise, it actually makes me feel better and gives me mental support in what i do! heh tells me that i'm on the right track and makes me want to go out and do more things. Always nice to have someone supporting what you do! Oh.. can you e-mail me at littodevil@gmail.com since I have a few questoins regarding engine heads and was wondering if I could pick on your knowledge since I think your a wealth of information! hehehe.. (in a good way of course) Big Grin Razzer somethign that i'm still learning about heh. I dont know what your e-mail is so i can't e-mail you.. lol..

Take cares!
Best Regards,
Larry
