We've read several complaints about people having trouble uploading photos due to "image file size". We can't "afford" unlimited file size. But Deb and I want to show consideration for members. So, the limit for image file size has been increased by 50%, to 300 KB. Across the board for all forums.

We don't add new forums too often, but we've created a new forum specifically for Chuck Melton, to deal with his registry inquiries. You'll find it in the "Buyer and Owner Non-technical Support Fourm" category. It may require a few tweaks before its 100% nailed down, but at least be aware for now that it (and Chuck) are there!

Let's give the registrar our support!

I, like most people, didn't realize you are charged for file size. I will work to keep images "reasonable". My website, the registry does not pay extra for size/storage, per se, but for useage/bandwidth. I guess they get ya' coming or going!

I'd like to thank you for the new forum/category. Some topics just didn't seem to fit elsewhere. While I suggested the addition, it should not be for me specifically, but for the registry as a topic.
I will continue to use and enjoy other forums as appropriate.

So, if anyone has a question regarding the De Tomaso Registry, that Forum is the place!

George,
Hosting websites myself I can understand how space can be a premium accessory.

What would it take to get more space? Would donations help? I noticed that POCA set up a donations link and got to thinking how it might be cool to do that for the Pantera International Forum as well. Or maybe you could just post a solicitation for funds (or maybe I've already missed it somewhere).

300K is a good sized photo, but I can see even better photos being uploaded if the space were available.

Just thinking out loud. Smiler

Is there any way to change the fact that if you type 1 letter or 1000 words then try to attach a picture that is too large (even by the slightest amount) that you get a notification that it is too large and when you return to what you have written, it is gone??? I have spent 10 mins or more typing several times only to have everything erased just because the picture that I tried to attach is too large. I usually choose to walk away rather than retype the entire thing.

Hi Asa, acquiring space is not the problem. Its the cost of the space. Our costs go up by $4.00 to $10.00 per month.

300 KB is a huge photo. Remember we are limited to "size" by the size of people's monitors or the screens of their portable devices. And resolution (dots per inch or pixels per inch) is in the range of 100. 300 KB supports that. Supporting anything more than that is throwing money away.

Most "subjects" don't warrant a super large 1000 pixel width image, often images 500 to 800 pixels in width is plenty.

This has happened to me a number of times too. Now, if I type a long reply, I highlight and copy all the text of the reply before hitting the "Post Now" button, just in case...
George, thanks for doing this but is it possible to have a system like ebay that automatically reduces your image size when you upload the file? I find the resizing of images to be very time consuming - I am not good on computers! Dave 2811 makes it look very easy..

I agree with Garth, I learned the hard way a long time ago to write everything in "word" and then cut and paste it onto the forum or ebay just in case I lose it.

Johnny
