...I remember once, visiting a friends' home. He was out with a friend in the driveway, washing his Trans-Am. I was just standing there 'shooting the Bull' with these two guys. The driveway had a low spot and began to form a slight 'pond' about 3 inches deep. While 'Jim' was still washing down his car; this other guy went and got the Vacuum Cleaner, 120 Volts, 2 conductor, on a 2 conductor extension cord, the cord and connection was taught and dangling just above the gathering a water! Thats TWO strikes! THEN Jims' 3 year old, Little Girl showed up Running over to Play in the Water!! I watched all this play out in a matter of seconds, but I had just enough time to take action! I stopped the child, and informed these two Idiots that they had just been seconds away from 'Frying' this little Girl. They weren't 'moved', they didn't believe anything could have happened. I guess some people just don't understand how Electricity Behaves. End of Story...
Reminds me of an incident at the local Acura dealer. A car was up on a lift and the gas tank was being worked on. At some point, it started leaking/gushing gas. Everyone was scrambling to stop the leak and contain the gas which by now was quite a pool. One of the car porters rushed over to help mop it up ... with a Shop Vac. The fire started almost instantaneously. Duh! What was he thinking!
