Who's orange pantera?

Nah, forget the $10, Here's what I did, just scanned through the pics of orange cars on PROVA MO looking at the wheels and as luck would have it some shots from this year's Reno event have just been posted and there's a picture of Tom sitting in the car wearing a button with his name on it! Now that you know it's Tom's car, hopefully someone else knows how to reach him - I'll try, but the first place I've checked has come up blank.

Only if you give me his phone # or email...or better yet the paint code?

Shute...I went to Prova Mo right after you posted your first message...found his number but that didn't give me much. I should have tried the search.

Are you a member of POCA? You might try their directory to see if he's listed, otherwise check with the Team Pantera Racing guys who write on the POCA e-mail forum - looks like he races with them at Silver State.

Tom is listed in the POCA directory, if you are a member you can access it online at the POCA website under club/membership directory.

I have no valuable info to contribute other than saying "hooray that you are keeping your car orange."

Any luck reaching Tom yet - if not, maybe move this from the Canadian Forum to the Pub to see if a broader audience is able to assist?

Julian was kind enough to get me the phone number for Tom(thanks Julian)....called Tom and he returned the call within an hour. He didn't have the paint code, but said Quella has a shop that did the paint many years ago...its just regular solid color paint, no pearl or clear coat.

My car is painted what I have been told is the stock pantera orange. I believe the guy. He is the tech rep for the Eastern Pantera Assoc. I have a Glassurit code of CMS 7004U along with a stock # of 224311. It is a 3 quart mixture and it breaks down each additive into what is probably grams thus:
Mo 560.1, M39 2290.2, M38 346.2, A126 144.0
M60 66.8. It also states that" Amounts listed are cumulative" Does any of this help?

Yes...thanks. The only thing is I can't say if I have ever seen an "original" orange car with factory color/paint. My car has been painted and what I have found is some orange colors end up with a more red/brown toned orange which is not to my liking. The brownish tone makes the color look somewhat muddy in tone. I prefer a more yellow tone in the orange...it just pops on the car. That's what I liked about Tom P's car. Honestly my wife and I have been in disagreement on color...I wanted to keep orange, she didn't like the color we have now because of the brownish tone. After seeing Tom P's car at Reno we both agreed that car just jumps at you and is a great looking orange.

Hmmm. Don't know if I'd call it a brown or red based orange. I'd describe it as pumpkin orange.People ask me what the color is and I tell them its f*#@!ng orange!!! It does stand out, but is it the color you're looking for??? Thats obviously your choice.

Its McLaren Orange!!! If you were a fan of the Can Am series McLaren had won the championship I think four years in a row starting in 1967 or 68...I personally think that color was picked to piggy back on those successes (I had one of their Can Am cars so I'm a huge McLaren fan so that is just my bias, but there may be some truth behind it). I'll post some McLaren team car pics.

I always liked the Pantera Orange, and when I saw this McLaren a few months ago liked it immediately ... the shadows caused it to come out darker in my photo than she appeared in real life! Tom, I hope you're not leading us down the path of hijacking your thread here

Holy crap! It is McLaren orange! I should have known that too. My Dad took me to Watkins Glen as a kid for the Can-Am & 6 Hour events. Incredible cars and incredible memories.

Now worries about hijacking the thread as long as you post Mclaren pictures and not Lolas or Porche 917's (although that would be a great thread).

For those who were able to see those cars really race in the late 60s and 70s I think you got to see one of the best racing series ever, I'm jealous.
