15x14 Campi 10 spoke (gt5 style) wheels were available, albeit very rare. The std backspacing on a 15 x 13 GT5 Campi is 4.75", but I have no idea whether that changed with the 15x14. I suspect not as the cars I've seen witha 14 width appear to have the extra on the outside of the car. RobertVegas was running 15x14 Campi's on his GT5 clone up until recently, he may be able to provide more info.

Based on teh above your 5.5" backspacing sounds ball park, just make sure the wheel will clear the lower hub spindle with a 15" dia wheel.

Those are standard GT5 Campy dimensions, as you state. The street wide body cars were sold with 13" rims.

The factory Group 4 cars had 14" rear rims. As a result, they are indeed quite rare but they do exist.
Charlie,

You have Campi's on your GT5-S correct? What is the backspacing on those, I'm told the GT5-S are different than GT5 as the 5S bodies are not as wide as a GT5?

Where are you measuring 5.5" to, outer edge of wheel or tire bead seat?

Julian
I had someone measure the backspacing - vertical distance(from the mounting face to the outside lip edge) on a set of Campy Gp IV Rims and the measurements were exactly the same: Front 4 5/8", rear 5.5". Those were the 10" and 13" wheels. Never was able to get a measurement on a 14" campy.

I have never heard that GT5 and 5S rims were different - I would highly doubt that as I would hardly imagine the factory re-tooled that wheel.

I am running a set of aftermarket rims with a 4.8" front and 5.0" rear offset and they are actually too far inward for my taste.

For your information, the original Hall Ultra wheels measured 5.0" front and 4.875" rear. Fronts are too much b/s - rears look about right. I personally measured these off an original set that were for sale.

Julian - first time I have heard that, and would be inclined to believe that the campys are identical unless proved wrong..

My car was dropped off 3 weeks ago for what is now turnign into a complete ground-up restoration so I can't measure my rims.

I'd understood that the GT5 and 5S were roughly the same width. I can send you dimensions of the 5-S as measured by a few magazines?
Charlie,

In retrospect I too doubt the Campi's are any different. More likely I suspect aftermarket wheels for a GT5 and GT5-S are different backspacing to the tune of the spacer that was fitted to GT5 models to push the wheel outward.

Numbers for width I found varied a little, but suggested the GT5 was wider by a mere 2-3mm. The 5S numbers were more consistent, so maybe I should just measure my GT5 for comparison.

Good luck with the restoration, I have an area on the floor pan just like yours...... a weak point. I have other projects on the go and don't want to touch the GT5 for the exact reason you show....it escalates.

Julian
