Hello all,

Several months ago I started a thread mentioning that I have never owned a Pantera before. I said I like the look of the GT5-S but I had concerns about buying one. Someone had told me that these GT5-S are hard to drive, hard to work on, hard to find parts for, hard to insure, and don't even think about getting in an accident because it will be impossible to put it back together. I asked the board here for their opinions. Many people, some who own a GT5-S, told me that these cars are great cars and that in fact they are easy to work on, easy to find parts for, easy to drive, easy to insure, etc. With the encouraging words I have been searching to buy a GT5-S and I finally bought #9465. The point I would like to make is that without the support of the people who participated and told me about their experiences of owning a GT5-S, I would probably have been too scared to buy one. This board works and has helped me. So thanks to you all.

Yeah, it is a real GT5-S, 1988 Amerisport. The body and under carriage are as clean as can be. Probably the feature of this car is the 650 hp fontana engine. I was told by the guy who had the engine built that it cost some $30,000.00

I tried to post photos, but my photos are around 700 kb and it says the max allowable size is 200kb. Don't know a work around to that.

Congratulations David, I'm glad this car worked out for you in the end and you won't go wrong with a GT5S.

For the photo's you'll need to use a photo editor to just reduce the size of the photos down to 200KB or 800 pixels width to fit on the forum page.

Nice to see another 5S Fontana block owner in CA! Those engines rip, carbureated or FI. Look forward to the photos.

There is 2 ways to handle photos:

First Way

(1) Open your photo with your preferred photo editing program, such as Microsoft Office Picture Manager, or Microsoft Paint.

(2) Please reduce the width of the photo to 800 pixels (or less)

(3) Use "save as" to save the photo somewhere on your computer where its convenient for you to find it. I like to use the desk top as a temporary storage area. You'll save the photo as a JPEG file (the forum will only accept JPEG or GIF files). When you save the photo as a JPEG it processes the photo with a data compression algorithm, thereby reducing the size of the file. This is true even if the photo was a JPEG file to begin with.

(4) The photo is ready for uploading. Use the add attachment feature found below the text field of the "reply" drop down window.

Second Way

(1) Sign up for an account at an image hosting web site like Photobucket or Flikr. Photobucket is free.

(2) Upload your photo to your image hosting account. Please set the "uploader" to reduce the size of your images to 800 pixels in width. The uploader will automatically resize your photos as you upload them.

(3) Copy the IMG code of your picture and paste it into the body of your post. If your image host does not provide an IMG code, copy the direct link (url) of your picture and use the Image tool found in the toolbar above the text field of the "reply" drop down window. The icon for the image tool looks like a small green & white photograph. Paste the url into the field of the image tool drop down window, and then click on the OK button.

I'm always around to help, just shoot me a private message when you have problems.

David, I see your quest was successful, what a jewel and a rare one at that. Welcome to the ownership experience. You will forge strong friendships here and at gaterings, again do not listen to 'them' or the 'nay-sayers' and when you decide to sell this car you will surely get chewed-out from the crew.

Enjoy

Denis
Congratulations, David! Your long journey has paid off handsomely - that 5-S is truly beautiful, and in near perfect condition. I hope you have many happy years with it. I'd like to one day get a picture of our two 5-S's side by side! Get lots of pictures of your progress and keep us updated.

Welcome to Pantera ownership, I'm glad you finally made it!

Michael
