#2636 Carpet question

I am getting ready to install carpet ( finally back at it after quite a hiatus.)

My question is about the small odd piece of carpet.

My thoughts were that it is for the exposed area around the fuse box but, it had a cover that covered most of that area and any orientation would have a large amount of overlap with the wheelhouse carpet

"Intended location and orientation"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the part you showed is for the Fuse box door.

After scouring old pics, it seems my cover is covered in black vinyl. I will have to hunt it down and verify. Thank you
