I have fitted a Ford 400 in place of the old Cleveland in my de Tomaso Longchamp.

I was warned that some 400 blocks have a casting weakness inside the V, and this is what's hapened - a six inch crack. Please can you tell me if this weakness in the casting is on both sides of the clock, or only one?

The cracks are usually on the right side, above the tappet bosses, on 400 blocks cast at Michigan Casting between '71 and '74. Dunno if they are repairable, but I'd be looking for a new block, NOT cast at MIchigan, or later than '74.
