I think many of you can relate to my most recent Pantera project. It all started with a Steve Wilkinson parts special. $ 40 for rubber motor mount bushings. Mine were original so a good idea to replace them. But the motor mounts themselves look crappy so I now need to paint them, all new bolts. No big deal.

But now I am looking at my 3O year old Mind Train headers. Good time to have them ceramic coated. ($175). What about those original header bolts? Yeah ARP small head bolts. And ARP has a complete set of nice oil pan bolts. Of course I need new header and collector gaskets.

Now I am looking at my 20 lbs. OEM starter. It still works ……………….but what about that occasional heat soak? And summer is coming hmmm. OK how about that deal on that Chinese starter? Nope, I need to put my big “Yankee” mouth behind my “No Chinese parts in my car speech” Torque Master (USA) has a nice mini starter ($180).

Miscellaneous paint /cleaners /solvents/ anti seize / new plugs / oil change (Why not easy to get to with the headers out. )

Total: $500+ . I keep the receipts but NEVER total them.

$ 40 motor mount rubber done. Zero cost for cuts, sore back, and knot on head.
What a great deal! Thanks Steve! Big Grin

Happy Wrenching !

Yeah, when I had my orange L, I went to just do the simple job of new bushings, and you know where that lead to once the suspension comes out...powder coat this, polish that, rebuild dat, etc. But, it is the right thing to do rather than put new bushings in, then a year or so later think about taking everything out again and then powder coat, etc...huh! Razzer

With me it was a spur of the moment decision at Wilkinsons just the moment before the bushings went into the old suspension..."ya know, it may be a good idea to powdercoat now rather than later"...then it all started.
