Adam Carolla’s opinion of Pantera owners!

I think the "distasteful" Panteras are in the minority.
Most Pantera owners have a good sense of what looks right & what is simply "bling".

Unfortunately the high number of Japanese pocket Rockets on the road with big “fridge door handle” wings on the trunk lid & cannon mufflers has given cars with wings & exhausts a bad wrap.
Wings have simply been over done in the past few years.

That tends to make Pantera’s with the GT5 wing seem “accessorized” by a lot of people who don’t understand Pantera’s.
Which is unfair as the GT5 Pantera was one of the original supercars that sported a large rear wing.
But that’s just the general public who do not understand the Pantera’s history & what was happening in the 70’s & 80’s.

Maybe this Adam character is simply jealous, (or just simply ignorant)?

I don’t think the Pantera has a bad reputation.
I have not yet met a person who does not drool over them & wants to know more about the car.

Well, that’s my take on the situation anyway.

The guy is pretty much a moron.

Adam is not just a commedian that got a job on a car show. He has a nice collection of high end sport and sport racing cars.
His humor is best described as "adolescent wise ass". I'd bet he could go on a similar short rant about Mustang, Viper, Ferrari, and any other owners. It's his job. He's thrown a few observations around that have some basis in reality. Otherwise they wouldn't be funny (or insulting!)
Don't take it personally. Think of it as your best friend ribbing you.
If you like Top Gear (British, not that horrible American version), then you'll probably like the Car Show on the Speed Channel. Top Gear clearly has 10 times the budget, but the irreverent nature of the presentation is similar.

I wouldn't spend my time watching Adam Carolla. I have worse things to say about him then he does about the Pantera and that's not because I care what he said.

You cannot fault Adam for "The Man Show" though.
I mean who else would put girls on trampolines as part of their opening and closing?

Childish I know, but it is a Monday morning and my automotive customers have been bugging me already.

Going to be a long week I can see.

Opinions are like assholes, everybodys got one.

Since when is Adam Carolla an Automotive Expert?

Give his "opinion" the weight it deserves; ZERO.

The two things that bother me are that he is broadcasting this to unlimited numbers of people and that he is basically implying that ALL Pantera owners are like this.

Unfortunately, I think we get coverage of cars like Pure Gold and it skews the public opinion


He has an eclectic car collection(list pulled from auto evolution); not that makes him worthy of hosting a car show or providing comment:
BMW M3 E30-generation model,
an E46-generation M3,
Datsun 510, an
Audi S4,
Audi R8,
Jaguar sports coupe,
MINI Cooper S,
Nissan 350Z,
Aston Martin,
Lamborghini 350GT,
Ferrari
1984 Nissan 300ZX Turbo.

The last one mentioned is actually the original Newman Sharp car driven by Paul Newman and Fitzy to an SCCA national championship in 1984. The car also scored its only Trans Am win in 1986 at Lime Rock by Paul Newman for Bob Sharp Racing. Its single-overhead-cam turbocharged V-6 develops 160 horsepower at 5200 rpm and and a maximum torque of 227 lb-ft at 3600 rpm.

I grew up in so cal in the 70s. Adam Corolla and Jimmy Kimmel were both on the new wave station i listened to KROQ. I,ve watched and enjoyed seeing them both make the big time.I did see that show and it pissed me off too!!!!! Adam is a car guy as i,ve seen him at the Rose Bowl Concouse Shows.His humor is very teenage wise ass so i'm not going to take it to seriously.He is hilaraous in the boxing movie he made.

Adam Carolla's show is a poor excuse for a car show on TV ...

PURE GOLD the Pantera is a work of art .. not saying its my taste .. but anyone who puts that much work into a car and follows thru to the end ... truely has expressed their vision and deserves admiration .. personally i think the wing is questionable on rice burners and panteras.

The bigger view may be that the show has pulled better numbers than the much-touted and completely rotten 'American Top Gear'.

Gets pretty good marks, though not sure if its a real 'opinion maker' type show.

Carolla is - to me - pretty funny, very much a gear head, known to be a ranter. Seems his comments were more that he greatly preferred the original design and recipe for greatness... just didn't like the over-the-top personalization that TO HIM degraded the car.

That was my take, can't say I disagree.

Others on the show nodded favorably when the Pantera was mentioned as a cool car, great looks, right motor. (Though the seemed to think the 'new' one with the LS was great also.)

On a recent show about racing one of his Datsuns, his garage also included a Lusso, Miura, and at least one racing Mustang (I thought I saw two).

Although John Salley has just been axed and show has been trimmed down to a half an hour now..... just a matter of time.

I searched for that show and watched a ton of video. He seems like a decent guy and no dummy about cars.

But I can't find the episode where he talks about Panteras. Can someone advise?

We are all used to hearing inaccurate statements about the perceived problems with the Pantera from people and the media all of the time.
What gets me is he is on TV bad mouthing us the owners. Like if it is us that are the reason for making the Pantera a bad car.

I downloaded their first show to give it a try. I was disappointed....why does everyone attempt to narrate like Jeremy Clarkson? BBC Top Gear is just out of everyone's league. Even my wife likes to watch it and she hates cars!

He definitely has some cool cars.

I've followed this post, not knowing who Adam was. Now I've seen him, I can't stand him. He sounds like that annoying comedian, always screaming, what's his name? But I guess he can't help that.

But loving Datsuns? And "it'll set off car alarms in a 10 mile radius". I wouldn't watch his show unless I needed a nap.

Still haven't seen what he said on Panteras, now I don't care.

adam carolla doesn't actually work on anything, he just buys it. nuff said. his collection is very telling of trendiness in collecting. never seen this car show, don't really care either. It comes across as another bust attempt like the utter fail that is top gear usa

"Trendiness in Collecting"?!....A Lamborghini Miura has ALWAYS been a highly coveted & RARE car, as is Adam's Lamborghini 350 GT as is his Selby Cobra. These cars are Icon's in the motor world. Since when did vintage Datsun racing cars become as you incorrectly & falsely refered to them as "Trendy". Why would you also assume Adam doesn't work on his cars?....are you in his garage?.....that's a rhetorical question....the answer being NO!...I appreciate & respect Adam's love & knowledge of cars...Something Hustler you are not able to do.....Now go drive your "Trendy" Pantera.....Mark

The Man show was great and he was good on it. (Girls on trampolines love it) But as for the Car show he is the one they need to replace He is the reason the show will not make it. His voice is annoying to me and as for his car collection if I had the cash I would own some of his rides, so he has taste in cars, but he tries to be funny and he is not. You know when one of your friends ribs you about something you have to slap him in the back of the head... Maybe some Italian / American’s should pay him a visit... BBC Top Gear is the one to watch, even my wife likes it and she has a "cars are just transportation to get you there point to point. IMHO
