While it's paradise for climate and such, its a financial nightmare. The economy is taking a huge slide and the politician's answers to everything is to raise taxes, cut services, and raise taxes some more. We have just about all our "eggs" in one basket . . . TOURISM. Well, tourism is about dead here and the State's income shows it. We are at 40,000+ unemployed people and raising every month. Our State Government is about to either furlough 46,000 workers 3 days a month without pay (a 15% decrease in their salaries) or lay off 10,000 of them. There is no end in sight and the bad numbers are expected to grow for the next two years. While I could survive there, I can live it up in Vegas. My calculated living expenses will be about 50% less than in Hawaii! We are following exactly in California's foot steps raising the same taxes, cutting the same services, laying off workers, chasing away businesses. Hawaii's economy will be the same as California's just on a smaller scale!
