Thanks for all the replies. I was removing the tank from the wreck that I'm parting out and was surprised to find out that it was aluminum. I am trying to decide if I should sell it or put it in my car. I think I'm leaning towards selling it.
I am planning on building an aluminum tank for mine. I want to put my oil cooler and oil accumulator on the left side so I don't have to run hoses everywhere. This would be the ideal location so I will be fabricating a tank out of scratch for the right side from aluminum.

Aluminum is good but it will still corrode if water gets trapped in it or between it and the frame. So long as it is kept dry you can expect years of reliability.
