My name is Mark and I've been lurking on here for a while trying to gather up enough info so I can make an informed decision on the Pantera I want to buy. You see I've hit my mid 40's so I guess this is my midlife crisis car.
I've learned quite a bit, I've met Steve Wilkinson from Panteras by Wilkinson. He had referred me to an out of print book called the "Pantera Buyers Guide". It has all the models DeTomaso brought out after Ford no longer imported the car to the U.S. Pretty informative. (Gotta love those Group 4's). I went to the show that PI Motorsports had in November, it was great to see such a wide variety of Panteras. I love how everyone is encouraged to make the car their own canvas. Not like some other snobby Euro brands that must be original or you'll be an outsider.
I've even convinced my wife that we could buy a new Vette, but those are a dime a dozen. Besides, when you see a Vette and Pantera at a light, which draws your attention? Plus if I buy a car that is "done right", the worst that will happen in 10 years, it will be worth what I paid for it. You can't do that with a new Corvette.
