I'm just wondering how someone got a pic of my steel balls though! lol

Well frankly I think sink strainers have better fluid flow characteristics anyway?

Not sure about steel mesh balls? I hear Teflon is the preferred substitution?

Let me text my expert. She usually answers right back?
Went and picked up screens (they needed to order more-didn't have 8) and also picked up my "test" air filter.

The filter WILL work, so I ordered 7 more, so I have options now.

HMMMM, which do I use?

The screens complete the "look" I'm going for for sure, but I also think 8 filters might also look pretty cool. Plus, obviously it'll be better for the engine.

How restrictive? Moreso than my old air cleaner setup? More than that single K&N setup in the pic posted earlier?

In my pic, the "bacon fat" you see is just silicon I added before snipping the ring off, I was afraid the screen wouldn't hold it's shape, and it was on one of the large, oversize, too-big for my uses screens. I was "speerminting"

Of course, I realize that.

I had taken an oversized drain (it was my first one) and smeared silicon around the outside flat area so when I cut the ring off the mesh would stay in place. Tyrns out it wasn't needed.

The one in the pic was just handy.

If I go with screens it'll be exactly like you've done.

I see vids of other Panteras with IR's that sound SO totally insane. Their idle is to die for, and they just sound angry and pi$$sed off.

I've been told my idle is so tame because of my IR's and injection.

Are these other cars just more hopped up? Mine's no slouch, but it doesn't hold a stick to the ones I see in videos.

Many have 180 headers, could that be it?

Would lowering my idle make it more lopey?

Presently it idles around 1000. I feel like it could idle lower if I wanted it to, but I don't want it stalling.

Maybe I just have to wait til next year when I build my new engine. I want it to sound scary.

Presently, mine is scary when you push the go-pedal all the way down, it has a LOT of power, but idling it is very tame.

Try lowering the idle rpm. The 180s do add to the sociophile appearance and you probably can get it down to 650 at which point it will start to sound like a marching band.

Boom, boom, bada, bada, boom, boom...sort of.

People will say to you, "what's wrong with you car man?" (mostly the Chevy guys) Then you can just make a face at them, and they will understand, put their tail between their legs and go away.

The Ferrari guys won't even talk to you. In fact, they may put their windshield washers on just sitting there in the parking lot? They do things like that when they are intimidated? Big Grin
