No.

IIRC, you never HAVE to do either.

BUT if you want to ever drop the pan, inspect bearings, change oil pump or whatever, the crossmember is in the way. And also the brake bracket, I think.

I have the Aviad, but Quella threw the stock emergency brake over the hedge and installed a line lock parking brake, so first-hand knowledge I don't have.

And I don't think mine is the standard unit usually used, as it is a rotary knob; unlike those I've used on forklifts.

ALL the parts Dennis removed from 2511, including all data plates but the dash riveted VIN plate and pedal box plate, were long gong by the time I assumed ownership.
