Not looking to hurt anyone feelings but that price was a bit strong for that car.
Even if someone wants to try to bring that to a original appearing car, paint, wheels, tires, solve overheating problem etc... they will have an easy extra 10 to 12K in that car.
There is a car on the for sale part of this forum that is much nicer for less money.
Since Pantera did have a factory silver color, and I had someone inspect this Pantera for me ( I didn't bid after seeing it at 35,000.00) I might have reasons to believe this WAS a factory color. Put as always, looking to be factually corrected. PLUS!!! this Pantera was last registered in 1984...so the new buyer is looking at 30 YEARS of back fees & Penalties!!!.....Mark
35K would have been my absolute high end of the range. I did bid on the car at $30,600 and figured I would wait it out and see what happened. I would have still felt good about it at 32 - 33 but nervous about anything higher. I did not have the car inspected, have to leave some margin for unexpected problems.
I was out of the game at when I saw the larger numbers roll in.
I wonder if the winning bidder will have second thoughts before paying for the car.
ok it is me and currently not having any buyers remorse, I did have specific reasons for buying this car and yes I do think I overpaid some, I looked at about a dozen over the last year and a half, seen the whole range of prices and level of items needed
-big car guy but this is my first Pantera, hope you guys will show patience with me and by (4) teenage boys as we wrench and get this car to driver status to start with; don't know where we will take if from there
Dad -

Best of luck with your car. There are lots of great resources on this board, everyone is very helpful.

Good luck. My suggestion is to get the car as a safe, reliable driver first, and then do at least 6-12 months of Pantera action.

That way you will have a lot more incentive to get the car back on the road!

Rocky
thanks Rocky, great suggestion, I think you are correct and should drive for a while, I do have winters here to work on things as it is not very conducive to driving nice cars in the winter up here, but does give us some time to wrench, I'm sure I will be sending out questions in the near future, 1st items are leaking coolant, check brakes and other fluids

Welcome aboard. I hope you find yourself pleasantly surprised with the condition of the car.
On close inspection of the pictures it appeared as though the car overheated. Looked like coolant sprayed out of the overflow or swirl tank. After checking the obvious stuff like water pump, keep in mind that these cars are prone to having air bubbles in the system which can cause a lack of water circulation and resulting in overheating. We will keep our fingers crossed that it is something simple. Good thing is that at the end of the day, its just a 351C and parts are easy to come by and cheap. Just a bit tight to work on.
Best of luck and keep us posted
