Pure Gold and white Group 4 were for sale at the auction, of course no reserve at Barrett Jackson. I got tons of photos and video, will share later. But the Group 4 was nice, not 100% show, but it looked real good. Bid up to $59K with reserve not met when I saw it at a Palm Springs auction a few months ago, today it sold for $27K...that's right no typo, $27K. Sure glad I didn't take mine there to sell. Photo below, and within my webpage Barrett Jackson folder, I got to go cry in my beer because I didn't bring cash for such a deal. I hope someone here bought it. The damn place was packed!

I was there and was shocked when it went for 27k. I think the placement of the fuel cell, way too high above the zf was not appealing. Also with the roll cage and racing seats you needed to be 5 foot tall and 100 lbs to fit in it. FYI BJ charged at this auction, 10% to the buyer and of course California gets their 8.25%. Hey thats me in the picture with the white t shirt, gray pants and head less. Chuck

I seem to recall a thread about an eBay running project that sold for about $20K back in April or May. The description and pics of the “project” were of a car not even close to the condition of the BJ car.

This car seems like an outright steal! Pull the fuel cell and replaced it with a nice SS tank for about $1K. Pull the roll bar and you have what appears to be a very nice and unique Pantera for what $30-32K?

Congrats to the new owner!

I would be lying if I did not say that current Pantera prices are disappointing. These auctions and watching eBay confirm that Panteras are not immune to the effects of the Obama economy. (Please this statement was meant for my good friend Larry only!)

I think that I am like most here in that I did not buy my Pantera as an investment. When I purchased it 16 years ago most muscle cars would have been far better investments.
Today my car is worth more than when I purchased it. However any appreciation has been off-set by the dollars I have spent for restoration and fun things.

Today’s Pantera prices make them fantastic values. Hell, what else can you buy for $30k? A C5 Vette? A 911?

As Mike Drew posted on the POCA forum, and I agree, B-J is not a Pantera friendly market.

Their buyers are a certain crowd and are just not in to our cars. Just about any other auction house attracts a better group for selling a Pantera.

I know one very high profile seller who listed with B-J awhile back. They used his car for the cover photo car, and then totally dropped the ball come auction time. He swore them off for good. I think B-J's shine will at some time finally flake off when other sellers realize there are other venues just as good, and especially venues that allow a reserve.

I think the new owners got real good value for their money, and there is only upside -- extremely well bought. The new owners will be able to (hopefully) drive the wheels off these cars and enjoy them -- after all, isn't what it is all about? I hope they become involved in the club and not just speculators looking to make a fast buck.....

I only wish that I could have gotten such a deal on my car when I was looking. I am really glad I do not need the money, yet.....

I agree, those prices are reserved for rust buckets. Lots of cars went cheap though, some very high quality. I posted more photos in my website below. Check out the folder for Palm Springs auction where the white one bid up to $59K but reserve not meet in Palm Springs. I chatted with the guy at OC Barrett, he said he owned the car for 13 years, did this and that to it. He said he had a high reserve on it in Palm Springs just to see what bids he could get. Had steel flares before he got it, but he did things to it as well just like all of us. I bet he shit when it went for $27K in OC Barrett whereas in Palm Springs it was basically double price offer that didn't meet reserve.

Wow, what CAN you buy for 30grand? I paid about that for my car in 'original' very solid condition, but have about that much again in renovation. The BJ buyer got a buy and a half. Good purchase.

I agree with Jeff (hard to do in public!) that if you snatched the fuel cell, pulled the roll cage and spent 2k on 'things' you'd still be in that car super right.

Hope the new owner joins us, at least so we can a) tell him all the right things to do since we're perfect and b) how to spend another 30grand on mods so we won't feel so bad about our own investments.

Adams STOLE his car. So no one should compare his purchase to this BJ car.

As I have gotten to know him better I have found out that Adams is a very shrewd car buyer. He calls himself a” bottom feeder”. He likes to read the obituaries and than steal the deceased cars from the grieving widows!

The truth is he takes the emotion out of his purchases and makes wise decisions. However he than throws all of this good sense out the window and spends on told millions on his improvements.
Hey wait a minute now... some of those widows seemed curiously delighted!

I admit, I must be half catfish, but the reason I DO try to buy reasonably is that somewhere, I'm gonna pay 12 times too much for the 'gotta have it' upgrade. This is why I have 6 Campagnolo wheels with no apparent purpose.

Anyway, had I seen that BJ car 'live', I'd have climbed over the drunken person in the folding chair in front of me to attempt snagging it.

Hope we get the details here eventually.
I think I will cry now Frowner

The modified mod motor and trans of Puregold probably cost more than what the car sold for. Both cars are a definite steal. I see a mojority of buyers at BJ as collectors who are looking for investments, not car guys that will actually drive and enjoy the cars they've purchased. I hope the guys that bought Puregold and the white Grp4 are the latter.

The damn car has become the slutty sorority doorknob of the car world, everyone has had a turn...

Ha ha yeah didn't think of it that way. Who ever gets it should bring it back to life a little and bring it back to show.

Good to see it up over $38K as of right now on ebay (but reserve not met). I hope the owner makes some money flipping it since it was only about $30K at auction. Or maybe it isn't even the same buyer from the auction since the car now seems to be out of CA.

Sold this morning for 42,000.00

I just met the new owner Steve at the Southern CA Belmont Show car show I was at yesterday. It was a funny meeting because we wanted to get together for several months to talk Pantera and NSX stuff, and all of a sudden we meet at the car show. He should have the car delivered soon. Nice new owner.

Now I'm curious how many NSX/Pantera owners there are...
