want to say how great it is to have information on panteras from people who know!
What kits can be used on panteras:
such as Wilwood? maybe 71-78 pinto,mustang 2
spindles or 62-69 chrysler B body,or just use theDynalite calipers for .81" rotors
Any suggestions? How about for the rear:
big or small bearing kit?
thanks

None of the hot-rod 'kits' will bolt onto the Pantera. To do this yourself, you'll need to fabricate a custom bracket for each wheel, adapt U.S. fittings to your Euro bubble-flair hard lines and choose a pad composition for the calipers. The stock sized 0.810" thick rotors (either solid or vented) will work fine around town but for track events or spirited romps in the mountains, thicker 1.25" thick rotors are needed for their higher heat capacity & warp resistance. A stock master cylinder & booster will work, but is getting rather old at 30 yrs. Be ready to have it let go at any time. There are no rebuild kits available. I'd really suggest you look into the upgraded brake kits the Pantera vendors have already devised. There are kits using Wilwood & Sierra calipers and late Corvette, with both wide and narrow vented rotors. Unless you're a skilled machinest and have experience in modifying brakes, you and your Pantera can wind up under a truck somewhere doing this stuff.
I think both Mike Dailey and Chuck Melton have some brake information on their websites. See: http://www.panteraplace.com/
and/or http://geocities.com/provamo72/
The Pantera vendors should be able to help you. Many of them offer brake upgrades.
I am currently waiting for a reply from Pantera Performance Center in Colorado. Earlier this week, I sent them some questions about how to fix the Wilwood brake upgrade that the previous owner of my car did. He missed a dimension on the rear mounting brackets so I have worn 1/4 inch off the rear rotors and 3/16 off the rear pads in 4,000 miles.

Having made a few mistakes along the way to replacing my brake system, I would strongly recommend you contact Wildwood directly. They offered free, knowledgeable advice (their president called me!!) Jack's right, save your time, money, and maybe neck and get the right stuff to begin with.
