Cam timing +4 Deg.

When I replaced my timing chain, I found that the old one was placed at four degrees advanced. In the Edlebrock paperwork they mentioned that +4 would yield better low end performance and -4 at the high end. I placed the new one at zero. Can anyone tell me where to find additional information on the effects of the change to performance and tuning.
