But that picture is not the new Pantera, but rather the 'Panthera Concept' project based on the Lamborghini Gallardo’s platform designed by Stefan Schulze. A lot nicer looking than any other prototypes I've seen, that's for sure!

According to the U.S. (actually UK: http://www.pistonheads.com/new...lt.asp?storyId=23270) site Piston Heads, De Tomaso Pantera could resurrect the mythical concept form. But where will De Tomaso stop? Completely disappeared from the radar for several years before being revived by Gian Mario Rossignolo, a formerly of Fiat, the Italian luxury brand was heard about again at the Geneva Motor Show by unveiling a new crossover.

Alas, if the name Deauville recalled the elegant sedan that competed in the 70's/80's with others: Maserati Quattroporte, Jaguar XJ, but frankly the clumsy style has left many observers skeptical about the viability of the firm with such a model.

That could change if the manufacturer decided to revive the famous name Pantera, one of several popular cars that remain iconic models forever of the Italian manufacturer.

Hopefully this time that the De Tomaso Pantera of the XXI century is indeed a cut above and has the style to match its predecessor, without falling into the neo-retro.
