Well friends I just got back from the Rod Run. It is a 3-4 day gathering about older cars, rods and classics. We saw many nice Camaros, Mustangs, 55-57 Chevys.. I took the Pantera just to share with the people. I met many people, most car guys wearing their faviorte T shirt, or Chevy cap, of course I was wearing my Paridise Pantera shirt. THEN I meet this fellow who walks up and says he had a Pantera. I asked him "where is it" he said he "sold it too soon". After I thought a little I realized this is not a car guy, but a vulture. I tagged him as the kind of guy that would buy a car from a guy who poured his heart into it, fell on hard times and had to sell. Then ride around and tell everybidy he built it, and sell it to a person with more money than sense. I kinda resented him looking at my Pantera as if it were a peice of meat he could make a few dollars on. Are dealers kin to lawyers? Why does it bother me? ( No offence to the lawyers)

It really isn't any particular proffesion, nationality, or philosophy. It is predator vs. prey.

We like to think that we are the top of the food chain. When we are sized up as supper it is discomforting.

However this actually reminded me of an explanation I got as to why one has to or needs to get the going rate on saleable goods.

If I sold a person an item that I knew should sell for $100, but I gave the guy a break and sold it to him for $10 what do you think would happen?

Most likely the new owner would turn around and try to sell it for the $100. I think that is the most likely scenario. I'll bet he would call me a stupid ass for doing it also.

Of course there are some people with do-do for brains, like my sister, that if you gave them a vintage Rolls Royce for free would use it like a junk yard pick up truck.

Those of you who have adopted cats or dogs, kittens or puppies most likely were asked for a fee. Maybe $75 or $100.

That is what we refer to as a qualification fee. If you can't or won't invest in the animal, I don't want you to have it. The $100 helps protect the animal once it's out of our hands.

Remember the picture of the the WTF Pantera recently posted with the Corvette type custom rear end?

Do you think if the person that did that would have if he had to pay $100,000 for the car? I don't.

He likely got it for next to nothing.

It's a pitty people think that way.
